I hope you don’t mind, but I’m going to start branching out a bit. So when I go on a trip or have a fun day, I’m going to start documenting them here. Hope you don’t mind!
I actually specifically thought of doing this partly because it’ll give me incentive to get out of my house, and a fun way to keep up with all of the things I do, besides the obvious choice of social media.
So let’s get started!
If you don’t already know, I am a HUGE Washington Capitals fan. Thanks in part to my beautiful DC friends, Lisa and Vinna who pulled me onto the badwagon when I was living in NoVA for the past three years. So when I found out they were playing the Tampa Bay Lightning on the 3rd of December, I practically begged Mason to take me. And since he had never been to an American NHL game, he was down.
Now, I’m no fashionista, so please don’t cringe to hard at these pictures. Please and thank you!
Now obviously I had to rep my boys! Ovi and Wilson are great guys, but Holtby is easily my favorite player and I am obsessed with his nickname. Can’t go wrong with a nickname that has the word beast in it, amirite?
Now recently, Mason had heard about Two Henry’s Brewing Company, and their Roasted Jalapeno Blueberry Porter which is right up his alley. What we didn’t know is that they are also a winery and a restaurant. Even though we showed up right when they opened at 11am, it was nice to kick back with a drink and some soft pretzels to take in the view. If you’re ever in Plant City outside of Tampa, this is a must do and we will definitely be back!
Next up was La France and Long Ash in Ybor, where Mason made friends with this surprisingly chill rooster. La France is a beautifully unique haberdashery right by Hamburger Mary’s (another staple for us) and it has the cutest weird stuff you can think of. Fridge magnet of Jesus drinking PBR? They got it. Old school flask with a cute cat on it? Yup. Wedding rings for a decent price? Mm-hmm. This has got to be my favorite store in Ybor and every time we go I find more stuff I love in. We also hit up Long Ash Cigars, where we like to stock up since we don’t know of any good cigar shops on our side on the state.
Once we finally got into Tampa, we had made plans to go to their Santa Fest, and do some skating at the outdoor rink they put up. Honestly, I was super pumped about this and we severely disappointed when it was overrun with small children and strollers. I was thinking the further we got from Disney the less kids we would see and boy was I wrong. So instead of fighting the crowds for a few minutes of skate time, we decided to check out the Tampa Museum of Art and it did not let me down. While it is on the small side, it is quiet and beautiful.
And lastly was the game! We had so much fun that this was literally the only picture I took. We did lose, which sucks, but it was in double overtime shootout so at least we lost with our dignity. That, and I didn’t want to get beat down by all the Bolts fans around us.
So all in all, a dang good day. Thanks for reading if you made it down this far and I want to say thanks for everyone who has been reading up to this point. There is no way I would continue to do this if I didn’t have someone else at the other end.
